About the founder
Mr. Ashwood started International Karate in 2004 and has been a permanent resident in Forney, Texas since 2006.
He started Karate in 1985 with 8x World Kickboxing Champion, and 3x World Boxing Champion, Troy Dorsey.
Mr. Ashwood earned his Black Belt in 1988 and began teaching for Mr. Dorsey. Since early on he has competed in many martial arts tournaments and became the Dallas Texas Golden Gloves Champion in 1992.
Mr. Ashwood continued to teach for Mr. Dorsey and was chosen to take over full time teaching duties at the original school (one of the oldest schools in Texas ) in 1999.
Always having a love for competition, Mr. Ashwood won the Grand Champion at Jack Hwang's All American Open in 2001. He as also won double gold in forms and fighting at the Open.
Mr. Ashwood opened his own school in Forney In 2004. He has been a positive and active member in the community as well as in various charities.
Since opening, Mr. Ashwood has produced many National champions
and countless medalist in competitions. More importantly, he has taught
hundreds of students how to achieve their full potential.
